MOLOKA’I CHURCH
Pastor Mike and Evelyn Raines have resigned as pastor of the Moloka’i Church of the Nazarene, effective September 30th. They have served as pastor since January 1997. On October 17, Rev.
Bud and Mary Rich will arrive to serve as interim pastor. Special thanks to Strategy Team members Rudy Archuleta, Kevin Kaya, Darren Reed, Gordon Wong, and Bob Killen for spending a day (September 14) on Moloka’i doing repairs!
HONOLULU FIRST CHURCH
The District Superintendent is working with the Honolulu First Church board, seeking God’s leadership for their new pastor. Pastor Chris and Donna Sutherland have recently moved to Gautier, Mississippi. They had served as pastor of Honolulu First Church since November 2002.
DISCIPLESHIP SUMMIT
A Discipleship Summit is coming to our island February 9, 2008 being held at Honolulu First Church Those encouraged to attend are pastors, staff, and all SDMI ministry leaders of the local church. The Summits are an opportunity for ministry leaders - pastoral and lay - to explore together discipleship in the 21st century.
To be and make Christlike disciples implies re-thinking methods and priorities. Local church ministry leaders will learn from other local ministry leaders what is and is not working. Help build your local strategy for the pursuit of the mission. Find out the best practices in Sunday School and disciple-making that others are using effectively in your region. Send all your ministry leaders to a
2008 Discipleship Summit. We need to learn from you. What is helping you accomplish your mission?
What is hindering your effectiveness? What effective methods are you using? What resources do you need to make disciples? Discover a fresh passion for pursuit of the mission. Re-vitalization of the Sunday School and passionate discipleship ministries are the future. Help create it.
Who is discipling you? Who are you discipling? “Spend more time with fewer people.”

Sunday School - Make the Connection

Don’t give up on your Sunday School; revitalize it!
Don’t ignore it; boost it!
Renew the focus of each class on evangelism, outreach, service, and compassion. Highlight intentional relationships that can only be developed through small
gatherings of like-minded people. You can slam shut the back door of your
church through small-group Sunday School and discipleship classes. Those
small groups can meet any time and any place. All you need is a name, a way
to contact them, a regular time of meeting, and a solid, Bible-based approved
study. If you want new people to be incorporated into your church, if you
want those people congregationalized, and if you want them to stick with
your church family for more than six months, small groups are not optional... click here to see read more on the pdf version...
